The sport of Working Equitation owes its origins to the pioneering efforts of enthusiasts in Italy, Portugal, Spain and France.
1996 marked the first International Working Equitation competition.
Since 2004 the World Association for Working Equitation (WAWE) has governed the sport of Working Equitation internationally.
